Narcissism (and Engagement Photos)

I just can’t help it today.  My ego is hugely inflated and I can’t stop looking at pictures of myself (and Blair).  But I swear, it’s not my fault.  I totally “blame” it on our fantastically amazing photographer!

Blair and I had our engagement pictures taken on Sunday, finally!  We had to cancel twice due to weather.  And once Sunday rolled around, I was pretty sure we’d have to cancel yet again, because I was having a bit of a panic attack.  Mostly because my hair stresses me out thiiiiiiiiiiiiis much.  And I made us a few minutes late because I couldn’t stop curling it.  Which didn’t seem to matter one single bit because it fell flat somewhere between speed walking through downtown Richmond and changing from pants to a dress in the backseat of a car parked next to a sidewalk.  Classy.

But none of that seemed to matter, because Jen of Jen + Ashley Photography made me (and Blair, who doesn’t need much help) look fan-freaking-tastic.  She posted our engagement session pictures today and I swear I’ve scanned through them 30 different times.  We took a few props, a few outfits, and a few (a-hole) dogs.  Thankfully, Jason and Kate like us enough to carry our stuff and walk our dogs.  Otherwise, Sunday would have been a complete disaster.

We had a ton of fun, made some silly jokes, laughed at Jen’s prompts to pretend to laugh, and watched a very large group of tourists take a Segway tour.  They also watched us kiss in the middle of a field.  Win win?

Gia kissed a baby, Sully just about lost her mind, and we emptied 2 bottles of champagne (in the grass).  I sort of wish we could do pictures like this on a regular basis, because we created a brand new day of memories!

Here are a few of my favorites.  See why I can’t stop looking at these?  We look so cute!  😉

As if I wasn’t already over the moon excited to get married and spend the rest of my life with this guy!

p.s. the wedding countdown is at 32 days!  what?!

    • Thank you! That picture was Blair’s idea. As were the K, B, and P props. I basically showed up and smiled. We’re getting ready to move to the mountains, so this might be our one and only urban picture! 🙂

        • Yep, we’re staying in VA but moving to Winchester, close to DC/WV. So it’s still not super rural (compared to growing up on a dairy farm in Ohio) but it’s a little less “city” than Richmond!

I’m horrible at geography, so I just had to get a short geography lesson from my fiancé to understand the Appalachian Mountains in relation to the Blue Ridge Mountains where we are. Not sure I got a great answer, but it seems like there are a lot of names for the same set of hills! 🙂

    • Thanks! 🙂 We are so excited to have these memories. So far, time is flying… I can only imagine how the next month will go. I’m trying to make sure I enjoy each day (and the new stresses they bring) before the wedding!

  1. That’s adorable! Great pictures 🙂 My favorite has to be the last one with the champagne! Wow it’s almost time for your wedding day only a month away! A few tips: Don’t forget to eat! I did and I lost 8lbs and my dress was huge on my wedding day, it kept falling off! And second, enjoy it! Don’t stress! Even if everything goes wrong (and believe me some things will probably go wrong) just relax and go with it. When the day of my wedding came I was soo over everything and ready to be married that I really didn’t care what happened I was just ready to be hitched 🙂

    • Thanks for the advice! We’ve been trying to keep the whole day as calm and causal as possible but I’m definitely starting to feel the stress. But I’m glad to hear some great advice to just let it happen and enjoy it. Just like you said, I’m so ready to just be done with it and move forward! 🙂

        • I sure hope so! But even if it’s not picture perfect, I’m certain that we’ll have too much fun to care. Thanks for the offer… I’m sure I’ll take you up on it in the next few weeks! 🙂
