January Foodie Penpals Reveal

Foodie Penpals took a short break in December to allow participants to donate to relief efforts in New York after the hurricane. Which was awesome. But it’s way more awesome that FPP is back in action! As always, a huge thanks to Lindsay at the Lean Green Bean for putting the program together!

This month I was lucky enough to be paired up with Melissa! She sent me a lot of her favorite things that I am loving, too! Each month is a fantastic new surprise. This month was no different! Blair got home before I did on delivery day and was excited because the box was crazy heavy. And if any child learned anything from holidays and birthdays past, it’s that the heavier a present is, the better it is!

Melissa included Raw Pure & Simple Pomegranate Oatmeal, arborio rice (that we used to make aaaaamazing risotto), whole grain wild and brown rice, and Maggie and Mary’s Creamy Wild Rice Soup.

The oatmeal is made with whole grains and flax, and has 32 grams of whole grains per serving! And I’ve always loved risotto, but never been brave enough to make it, so thankfully the arborio rice was the kick in the pants that I needed to be brave. YUM. We added sundried tomatoes and parmesan cheese and loved every last, little bite.

I haven’t had a chance to make the other rice yet, but know that we’ll love it. And I’m just waiting for the next cold day (maybe this weekend!) to cook up the soup.

Again, another great Foodie Penpals experience. Want to learn more and participate in February? Click the button below or the link above to get more information and sign up!
